Description
Francisco Pallas y Puig (1859-1926) Valencian sculptor. Intricately carved battle scene with General Prim and the Catalan volunteers at the battle of Castillejos in Morocco. The ivory carving is housed in a black frame set in a shadow box frame. The shadow box has a plate that reads in full "Gen Prim and the Catalan volunteers at the battle of Castillejos Morocco. Carved by the Valencian sculptor Francisco Pallas in 1881" The carving and the inner frame are in excellent condition and there is a 4mm gap between the top of the carving and the inner frame. The outer frame is in good condition with some scratches. The carving has not been inspected outside of the frame. Overall 13"h x 15 1/4"w x 2 1/2"d. Ivory 4 1/4"h x 6 1/4"w. This is an antique ivory object over 100 years old. It is offered for sale within the state of Connecticut and must be picked up and paid for in person. Please be aware that state and federal laws may apply when purchasing ivory.
