A LARGE FRENCH PROVINCIAL CARVED CHERRY "ARMOIRE DE MARIAGE," POSSIBLY PROVENCE OR NORMANDY, LATE 18TH CENTURY/EARLY 19TH CENTURY, in the Louis XV style with a serpentine rectangular arched cornice, above a conforming frieze centering an applied stylized wreath enclosing Cupid's arrow between two courting doves, within panels of undulating berried leafy vines in relief, over paired three panel doors with reticulated cut steel escutcheons flanking a central panel of scrolling acanthus suspending an intertwined ribbon-tied roundel of two hearts, continuing to a bow ribbon hung with various specimens of seasonal foliage, harvests, and flowers representing the seasons of the year, ending above a reticulated apron with a fruit and vegetable filled basket issuing bullrushes and stylized flowering stems, raised on short cabriole legs ending in scrolled feet. Good condition, some minor surface marks and small scratches, age cracks, vertical right rounded corner with light surface rubbing, old repairs.
