Description
STERLING SILVER TABLE ARTICLES, LOT OF FIVE, comprising a pair of ovular open salts on four feet marked for Theodore B. Starr, a circular open salt on four feet marked for J. E. Caldwell & Co., an English open salt with scalloped rim, on three feet with Birmingham proof mark and M. & Co. hallmark, possibly for Marples & Co, and a repousse toothpick holder on three feet marked for Baldwin & Miller Inc. Together with two sterling silver salt spoons, and an unmarked open salt on pedestal foot, with repousse decoration and gold wash to interior. Eight pieces total. Total sterling weight: 9.56 ozt. Late 19th/early 20th century. 1 1/2" to 2 1/4" H.
Provenance: Property from the estate of David and Marian Jenkins, Harrisonburg, VA.
Excellent condition overall, some minimal dents, English example with some short splits from rim, possibly as made.
