History: Based on the Winchester Model 92 .44-40 Carbine from his(John Wayne's) personal collection, this superb non-firing commemorative was assembled by hand from 70 separate components, and intricately engraved and embellished with 24 karat gold. The rifle bears markings from the original, including the identical serial number, 987672, preceded by the initials JW. The walnut-stained hardwood stock and extended forend are hand-finished to a satin luster. A Proof minted solid sterling silver medal depicting the Duke is set into an engraved bezel accented with 24 karat gold, then hand set into the stock. And the crowning touch is John Wayne's own signature, carved into the tang atop the stock. The 36" rifle is supported on the 43" by 14½" display frame by two gold plated 44-40 shell cases.
