Description
Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, 500 to 800 CE. This is an abstract stone figure with a humanoid or monkey shape. The head is large relative to the body, with a pointed top, narrowed eyes, and a prominent nose. It appears to rest upon a hand; the figure sits with knees curled up. It is made of a grey, volcanic rock. Size: 3.5" W x 7.6" H (8.9 cm x 19.3 cm)
Provenance: ex-Atlanta, GA collection, acquired before 1990
