Description
Korean, 20th century. Stained and lacquered wood apothecary or medicine cabinet of rectangular form with forty-six pull out drawers with round metal hardware pulls at center with drop rings, with carved and painted calligraphic marks on each drawer front, likely identifying contents originally stored within, and a central lower double-door cabinet, with circular applied brass mounts and spandrels. With a shaped apron, Japanese Tori style cantilevered top, gilt bronze butterfly mounts, and pedestal feet. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 32.25, width 30", depth 9".
Condition
Some oxidation to metal mounts and pulls. A few drawers with residue or soiling to fronts. Some typical surface wear, including scratching, to edges. Bottom doors with sticky residue causing them to stick. Some drawer fronts are not flush with compartments, which was part of construction. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
