Description
Japanese, Meiji Period (1868-1912). A group of two woven bronze and mixed metal saucers comprising one woven copper plate of round form with bronze or shakudo edge and applied creatures including crabs, dragonflies, frogs, snakes, spiders, snails, and bees; and one deeper round dish with finely woven cavetto and rim and central tondo incised and inlaid to depict a small bird flying toward a cluster of flowering branches. Each unmarked. Larger dish approximate diameter 9.75", smaller dish approximate diameter 8".
