Description
Continental, likely German, 20th century. A marquetry inlaid religious icon, portraying a cathedral interior of columns and gothic arches, with hinged doors opening to reveal the Virgin and Child against a stained glass window, above a black and white tiled floor. The reverse fitted with a music box playing "Ave Maria". Illegibly signed, with a Benson & Hedges label, likely from a re-purposed humidor lid. Approximate height 16.1", width 12", depth 4". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.
