Description
Italian, possibly Venetian, 19th century. A vitrine table in the Italian Baroque style in black and gold polychrome, with a hinged glass top and four glass sides, above a serpentine apron inset with mirrors. Rests on four cabriole legs with acanthus accents to the knees and gilt decorated feet. Embellished with gilded details, including a shield at each corner, acanthus leaves, and rocaille, with painted heraldic crests on three sides. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 30.75", width 34.25", depth 23.5".
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Polychrome not original - with some losses, particularly to legs and feet, scratches, and scuffs overall. Missing one wooden divider panel, with some seam separation. Mirrored panels oxidized with losses to mirroring. Some chips to glass panels on interior - these are flat panes and do not fit flush with the frame. Lining is old and faded, with some soiling. Could benefit from light professional restoration.
