After Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923-1997), "Crying Girl"-1963, offset lithograph. An exhibition mailer (advertising material) for the Castelli Gallery (American, founded 1957) after the original work "Crying Girl" by noted American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, the exhibition mailer announcing the upcoming display of Lichtenstein's work. Figural pop art print depicting a beautiful woman with blonde hair, her hand held to her quivering lip as tears roll down her cheek, rendered in the artist's canonical "comic illustration" style, with inscriptions to verso "Leo Castelli 4 East 77th, New York 21", "Roy Lichtenstein September 28th to October 24th, 1963", with postage stamp "New York Sep 26 '63". Unframed approximately 17" x 22.75".
Condition
Creases throughout commensurate with having been folded. Surface losses to creases; not overwhelming and commensurate with material. Faint waving to sheet. Untreated horizontal tear to left center (corresponding with a fold crease). Wear to corners and edges commensurate with handling and material. Original round adhesive present to verso.
