Description
Chinese, 19th century, possibly earlier. Hand embroidered horizontal framed silk textile panel, possibly a Chao Pao fragment from a dragon robe with central metallic gold thread serpentine five-clawed dragon, set against a black background above mountains with scrolling clouds and interspersed symbols, including several of the Eight Auspicious Objects, including the endless knot, a treasure vase, and a goldfish, as well as branches, fruits, and bats, signifying happiness and joy, in an early Qing Dynasty design. In a gold frame with a fretwork hook. Unmarked. Approximate (framed) height 10.5", width 23", depth .6".
Condition
Not examined out of the frame. Silk exhibiting some loose threads, but no apparent losses. Silk tacked to back of board. Possibly with some even fading, although colors still appear vibrant.
