Description
Horace R. Burdick (1844-1942) American artist. Burdick studied under Otto Grundmann and William Rimmer at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. A painter, teacher, and writer, he became a member of the Boston Art Club, where he later exhibited his work. Other exhibitions include the National Academy, the Pennsylvania Academy, and the Society of Independent Artists. His paintings were acquired by numerous public institutions, such as the State House and Fanueil Hall in Boston, Memorial Hall in Cambridge, and MIT. Original drawing on 5-1/4 x 5" sheet. As this early drawing, dating to 1880s, it is in much greater detail than his later looser works. This page was removed from one of his sketchbooks which we purchased many years ago from the Burdick Estate Sale. As you can see there is large stain. Unsigned.
