Description
This German military cane or walking stick is set with a silver topper over a black and brown fabric wrapped shaft. The topper takes the form of a military man with the phrase, "Es Lebe Der Reservemann," or "Long Live the Reserve Man." There is a brass band with a bronze medallion approximately three inches below the topper. The medallion has the German eagle as well as Latin writing.

Condition: Rusting of the ferrule and tarnish to the topper. Minor fraying to the wrapping.
History: Canes such as these were carried by military officers of all nations, but their popularity was at its peak in the mid 1910s. It showed a small resurgence during WWII, but has never since shown as widespread a popularity as it had in the early 20th Century.
