The author strongly advocates the advancement of navigable communication between the states in the Northeast, South, and Midwest, with emphasis on Pennsylvania, but citing New York, Virginia, Louisiana, Ohio, etc. He lists the advantages for trade in manufactured and agricultural goods. Howes notes that this work is also ascribed to Turner Camac, and the NUC says it was "principally extracted" from Camac's INLAND NAVIGATION IN IRELAND and adapted by William Blodgett for American waterways.
