English, 19th Century, oversized travel desk, mahogany finished oak, brass, Cecil Roy, Bank Buildings, Gloucester Road plaque, 36.5"w x 14.25"d x 18.5"d closed
Condition
Of rectangular form with a hinged lid and a drop front set with a writing surface, with a fitted, labeled interior, raised on a conforming base, sides set with bale handles. Interior set with Castrell Maker South Kensington red, faux leather, labeled folders. Contains two ink pens, a pencil, two ink wells and two notepad holders. Interior in overall good condition, some wear to the faux leather, a few pieces detached. One wood piece missing but retained. One fitted compartment on left side has been reglued. Some minor chips to interior. Exterior in overall good condition. Some edge chips and wear to sides. Some veneer loss and in other areas veneer is raised. Some loss to finish on back side and throughout. With surface scratching and minor dents throughout consistent with age and use. Some staining to top.
