Description
A late Victorian 18ct gold snake ring. The coiled serpent, with crossover head and tail, oval-shape sapphire and old-cut diamond crest and diamond eyes. Estimated total diamond weight 0.10ct. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1900. Ring size U 1/2. Weight 7.8gms.
Overall condition good. Some surface scratches in keeping with general age and wear. Some possible replacement gems. Mount with small gaps to sapphire, sapphire pavillion reaches past the bottom of the ring. Diamonds well matched. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Sapphire is a deep medium blue hue, fairly well saturated, with fair to good clarity and typical inclusions. Stones in good condition with moderate facet-edge abrasions. Width 1cm. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
