Sumeria, Ur III, 1976 BCE, dated to month 1, year 6 of the rein of King Amar-Suen. Clay "biscuit" used as receipt in the transaction of a loan of silver. Some of the earliest recorded writing of mankind! Size: 1.375" W x 1.625" H (3.5 cm x 4.1 cm)
Translated as follows: [n minas + n shekels] of silver [at the rate of] 1 shekel [interest] per 5 shekels (loaned). From Ur-… Za?da-… received. In the presences of Ur-dingirpae; Lamma-shaga; Shesh-kalla; Lu-Utu, witnesses. Year (named) : "Shashrum was destroyed." Month I.
