19th c. B. Cohen & Sons Ltd., London Fine Quality Old English Inlaid Figured Mahogany Breakfront Secretary Bookcase, in two sections, having a split swan neck pierced pediment over a inlaid strung cornice and four astragal glazed doors opening to shelved interior. The lower case center drawer marquetry inlaid with urn and scrolls, opens to reveal a beautifully fitted desk, again with urn inlay and stringing with tooled green leather top. Four strung inlaid lower doors, the two end doors with marquetry inlaid urn and swag all open to shelved interior all raised on a conforming plinth base. B. Cohen & Sons, Ltd. was one of the leading wholesale manufacturers and exporters of furniture in Shoreditch, London. The premises were on Curtain Road from 1871 until 1952. It was one of the earliest examples of fully developed showroom warehouse buildings in London. B. Cohen ceased production in 1968. Originally purchased at Geo. C. Birlant Fine Antiques, King Street, Charleston. Measures 77x24x92.50". The Pediment measures 8.50" Tall.
