Antique J. C. Vickery c. 1913 French Gold Boulle Tortoise Shell Book Form Pen Wipe Case. Very scarce and hard to find, the "pages" are black felt that one would use to clean your nibs off before putting them away. Leather bound back. Ornate script monogram. Measure 3 1/2"x3"x1/2". Stamped J. C. Vickery for John Collard Vickery, an important and successful player in the retail side of the gold and silversmithing business in the early 20th century. Located on Regent Street in London. Vickery went on to obtain the royal warrants of HM the King, HM the Queen, HM Queen Alexandra, TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales, HM the King of Portugal, HM the King of Spain, TM the King and Queen of Denmark, HM the Queen of Norway, HM the King of Sweden and the Prince and Princess Christian of Schleswig Holstein.
