Selling the second desk set of two sets offered in this auction - Rare and important and in EXCELLENT PRISTINE CONDITION, an Albert Berry (1878-1949) gold-gilded desk set with large pre-glacial fossilized walrus, mammoth or mastodon ivory pieces. Berry was an active renown metalsmith artist in Alaska and Washington State during the arts and crafts movement. The desk set comprises a desk pad, letter opener, pen holder (no dip pen) , letter holder, a stamp box with hinged lid and a stand up calendar frame with perpetual calendar cards, dip piece with embossed pinecone motif and fossilized ivory, most with his incised mark used between 1918 to 1949, “Albert Berry Craft Shop, Seattleâ€.) Provenance - Recently acquired from the heirs of John G. Dorn who was the original owner of the Dorn Winery, Sandusky Ohio from 1888 to 1934, and the original, custom order, purchaser of two Albert Berry desk sets - one for his office at the winery and one for home.
