'Eroica' Strike on tone bar, brass suspension of the pendulum with floral relief work pendulum lense
Brass dial with Roman hour markers, outer minute, blackened spade-hands, in the center a rosary in relief
Tall rectangular wooden cover with a box-shaped base on bracket feet
Straight pendulum bob with pendulum window
Glass head with a protruding cornice and pediment, sides with open work and covered with fabric
Front side with finest banding and marquetry in the shape of flowers and bouquets
With keys and two weights

Condition:

The clock is in a good condition, consistent with age with usual signs of wear. The pendulum window with a flaw. Throughout partly slightly surface wear and minor veneer defects such as blemishes, fissures and warping. The wood in places with tensions cracks and scratches. During in-house testing, the watch was fully functional; long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. The dimensions are c. 224 x 69.5 x 38 cm.

Gustav Eduard Becker (1819-1885)

Der deutsche Uhrmacher Gustav Eduard Becker wurde 1819 in Oels Schlesien geboren und starb 1885 in Berchtesgaden. Im Jahre 1847 eröffnete Becker ein Uhrengeschäft. Anfangs konzentrierte er sich auf die Produktion von Pendeluhren nach Wiener Vorbild. Bekannt wurde er im Jahr 1852, als er auf der Schlesischen Industrieausstellung die Goldmedaille gewann. Ab 1860 wurden die Becker Uhren immer hochwertiger und aufwendiger gestaltet. Nach Beckers Tod wurde die Firma zusammen mit anderen Unternehmen unter dem Namen „Vereinigte Freiburger Uhrenfabriken Aktiengesellschaft“ weiter geführt. 1930 erfolgte die Fusion mit der Hamburg-Amerikanischen Uhrenfabrik und der Junghans AG zur Uhrenfabriken Gebrüder Junghans AG.
