The Medici-lions from the Villa Medici in Florence are the model for this pair of lions
Height: 15 cm
Good condition,
Provenance: Private property, Germany
A model for the pair of lions with his detailed formed flowing manes and the distinctive facial features are the Medici-Lions from the Villa Medici in Florence. Such motiv was very popular in the 18th and 19th century and lots of small bronze sculptures were produced. The right paw is resting on the ball and is looking like a king's pose. The lions are mounted on a rectangual marble base.

Condition:

The sculptures are in a good condition. One lion figure with refixed tail. The marble bases show chips to the edges. The height of the sculptures measures 15 cm.
