15th c. HOI AN HOARD SHIPWRECK VIETNAMESE CERAMICS: 11 piece lot of covered pots and bowls from the 15th c., Hoi An Hoard Shipwreck which carried Vietnamese ceramics. All pieces (Excepting lids) bear the Hoi An Hoard shipwreck labels and bar codes from VISAL, SAGA and Oxford U. POTS: Possibly cosmetics or spice containers these are decorated with flying ducks, blooming peony, and geometric motifs in under-glaze blue on a white body. Largest 2"h x 2.5"w. 3 BOWLS: With traces of red and blue enamel decoration, each average: 3.25"h x 5.75"d.
The Hoi An shipwreck was discovered in the South China Sea off the coast of Vietnam. The ship was carrying a large cargo "hoard" of Vietnamese ceramics all dating from mid-to-late 15th century AD.
