Additional Information: This work is hand signed in pencil by the artist at the lower right margin "max ernst".
It is Hand Numbered in pencil “18/79†on the lower left margin.
This work is one of the 34 lithographs that illustrate 'La Ballade du Soldat' by Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes.
It was printed by Pierre Chave, Vence and published in a limited edition of 79 copies (plus 19 HC proofs)
Note: 'La Ballade du soldat' was a collaboration between the surrealist artist Max Ernst and the poet Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes. Printed in 1972, it consists of a series of 34 lithographs by Ernst, which accompany Ribemont-Dessaignes' poem. La Ballade du Soldat is a lyrical attack on the destructive role of the soldier in society, and is complimented by Ernst's disquieting images.
