Description
Modern-day Iran, ca. 1200 to 1100 BCE. This is a leaf-shaped bronze spearhead with a narrow tang ending in a right angle; the tang would have been wrapped in a perishable material like wood or leather. At some point in antiquity, someone drilled two small holes through the ridge of the blade. Size: 8.3" L x 1.75" W (21.1 cm x 4.4 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
