Description
Unusual One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Insignia "CA", New York State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of nails in the form of the crossed insignia "CA", presumably representing the initials of a merchant. Insignia is surrounded by slip-trailed floral, spot, and vine motifs. Desirable size and appealing decoration. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing discoloration and dryness to left side / reverse. H 8 1/8".
