Description
This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE CROSS PENDANT that was made between 1910 - 1920 from 14K FAINT YELLOW GOLD & PLATINUM. The cross is detailed with PLIQUE-A-JOUR ENAMEL that has a COBALT BLUE COLOR. Plique-? -jour is French for "letting in daylight" and is a vitreous enameling technique that looks like stained glass, The enamel is applied in cells and has no backing, so light can shine through the translucent enamel. It was popular in France during the Art Nouveau movement. The cross is set with 17 THICK, OLD MINE CUT DIAMONDS of H to J color, SI to I clarity that weigh approx. 1.20 ctw. This diamond cross section is raised higher than the gold frame. One of the diamonds may be a replacement and one is chipped, but it is not visible to the naked eye. The cross measures 1-15/16"? long, not including the bale, by 1-7/16"? wide. The total weight is 6 grams. BEAUTIFUL DETAIL"¦GREAT SPARKLE"¦FINE QUALITY"¦GREAT CONDITION!
