Ls. Duchene et Compagnie, a gold open face pocket watch, circa 1800, verge fusee movement, pierced and engraved balance cock, three armed undersprung balance, silvered regulator disc, cylindrical pillars, engraved Ls. Duchene & Comp., n. 39055 , white enamel dial, black Arabic numerals, fleuer de lys hands, winding aperture at 2 o'clock, two piece hinged case with foliate and cabletwist bands, the back cover chased with a cockerel, a hen and a wheelbarrow in an octagonal reserve, diameter 47mm Ls. Duchene is recorded in Baille, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World Volume 1 as working in Geneva in the late 18th century. Examples of four colour gold watches by Ls. Dechene are in the Carnegie Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
