Additional Info: This ring is a period Victorian antique ring in 14K Solid Rose Gold. The ring is set with a small beautifully milled and polished piece of banded agate. There is a picture in the listing of banded agate in its natural untouched condition. Its easy to understand why this stone was so popular for carving intaglios and cameos with the lovely choice of color and the clean almost geometric layering within the stone itself. This fine Victorian example is set with a piece of banded agate that was never turned into an intaglio or cameo. But the ring doesn't go wanting for that omission. The setting has an unusual typically Victorian approach to an ingenious prong setting that reaches around the stone from well below and outside the seat to hold it in place by capturing its beveled edge. The ring is completed with a finely reeded pattern to the band and some very fine mil grain detailing to either side of the setting. This is a really wonderful ring for the lucky person clever enough to make it their own.
