James and Ralph Clews (Staffordshire district, England, 1818-1836), circa 1829-1836. A set of six Clews historic Staffordshire brown and white and black and white transfer print earthenware, hard paste dinner plates from the 'Picturesque Views' series comprising the following titles; two - 'Picturesque View Troy from Mount Ida Hudson River' (one brown;one black); three - 'Picturesque Views Near Fishkill Hudson River' (two black/one brown); 'Picturesque View Hudson Hudson River'(brown). All with scalloped border decorated with birds and flowers and inscribed with title en verso; three with additional impressed mark 'Clews Warranted Staffordshire' with crown in center. Approximate diameter 10.4".
