Description
Chinese, Ching Dynasty Yongzheng mark (1723-1735), likely 20th century. Pair of matching hand decorated faux bois and yellow rope motif banded porcelain jardinieres of tapered cylindrical form supported on four squat gilt legs with iron red scrolling on stands with matching motif supported on four squat gilt legs with iron red scrolling. Underside of each with blue four character mark for Yongzheng period under glaze. Remnant of label on exterior from John Rosselli Antiques, New York, New York. Overall approximate height 5.25", diameter of jardiniere at top 5.75". Note: A nearly identical pair of jardinieres sold on Christie's, New York, "Forever Chic" sale on October 14, 2014 as Lot 101 where they sold for over $10,000.
Condition
With some enamel losses and residue present overall. One with repaired chip to edge of saucer that has been inpainted. Typical shelf ware to bases. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
