Description
AMERICAN PERCUSSION LONG RIFLE, probably a trade rifle; half-stock, octagonal barrel, double set triggers, .44 caliber, lockplate with partial mark "Henry Parker / Warranted" and engraved decoration including game birds, sight possibly German silver; trigger guard, two-piece butt plate, patchbox, side plate, end cap, and fish-form plate to cheek rest all brass, the side plate stamped "73", end cap and trigger guard with some wrigglework; with wooden ramrod; possibly shortened from a full stock example, lockplate likely a replacement, possibly during conversion to percussion. Second half 19th century. 57 1/2" L, barrel 41 1/4" L.
Excellent condition overall, mechanism currently in working condition, old repair to split in stock at key, some minor nicks to barrel exterior, possibly including some tool marks, expected pitting and minor losses to lockplate, nipple and hammer.
