Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Moche I, ca. 100 to 200 CE. Wonderfully painted and well-preserved pottery stirrup vessel - a type of jar used to hold chicha - ancient Peruvian corn beer. Bulbous base decorated with 4 starfish in red/brown over a light orange/tan base. A beautiful early example! Size: 7.5" H (19 cm)
