Description
Gorham (American (Rhode Island), founded 1831), circa 1929-32. A five piece sterling silver tea and coffee service in the Edgeworth pattern comprising a 2 5/8 pint teapot (A11952) , a 2 7/8 pint coffee pot (A11951), lidded sugar (A11958), 3/4 pint creamer (A11954), and waste bowl (A11955), each piece of classic Georgian form with narrow molded laurel leaf band above center of body and tiny rocaille band near top and raised on splayed ring foot. Each piece with monogram "LDR". Underside of each piece with maker's marks, style number, and date code; some also with pattern name and volume capacity. Coffee pot approximate height 10.125", teapot approximate height 9.25", sugar approximate height 6.625", creamer approximate height 6.75", bowl approximate height 3.75". Total approximate weight 72.37 troy ounces.
Condition
Teapot lid does not close completely; hinge might need adjusting. Minor oxidation to interior of lid. Solder repair to handle at both bands. Minor dings to foot base commensurate with repeated contact to surface. Coffee pot with solder repairs to handle at both bands. Sugar bowl with thumb size impression exterior to interior on bowl. Also small ding under the monogram. Waste bowl with scattered small pitting and minor oxidation. Each piece with surface scratches commensurate with age and usage.
