Description
British, circa 1890-1910. A fine black painted steel safe used to house private papers, etc made by Hobbs & Co of London in rectangular form having the front single door letter in gilt 'LIONEL. HUDSON. Private'. Interior of safe has fitted compartment with pigeon holes alphabetically lettered over two small horizontally aligned locking drawers (no key) with gilt drop handles labeled 'Hobbs & Co, London. Interior of door stamped 'Lionel Hudson, 87 Moorgate, London'. The exterior of safe mounted to both sides with drop bail handles. Front exterior with double locking mechanisms with key. Approximate height 19.4", width 14", depth 14".
