Description
Goldscheider Manufactory and Majolica Factory (Vienna, founded 1885). Hand decorated Art Deco ceramic figure of a Butterfly Dancer, circa 1937, marked to underside "MADE IN AUSTRIA", "Goldscheider Wien", "HAND-DECORATED", "5434", "193", "15", "27", reverse inscribed "Lorenzl". Figural ceramic sculpture depicting a barefoot dancer with arms outstretched with draping monarch wings, standing on a stepped round base with an urn overflowing with luscious pink roses. Overall approximately 18" x 16" x 6.625". Provenance: The Estate of Richard Wright; whereby acquired by present owner.
Condition
Scattered extremely minor glazing imperfections, original to piece, not distracting. Untreated hairline detected to figure's right shoulder, and front of right wing spanning approximately 3". Underside of base with light wear commensurate with shelf use. No other apparent hairlines, chips, fractures or losses. Under black light examination no apparent signs of repair.
