The cow hide leather combat shield, with central wooden pole support and double row of openings for leather strips, having a finger-grip on the back left side which leaves the right hand free to carry an assegai, knobkerrie or other weapons. Shield measures approximately 31" x 22-1/2" Shield showing seven breaks in leather strips, not affecting the overall look. Some period repairs. Condition (Good).
