Title: Mounted albumen photograph on advertising sign for Rogers Locomotive Co. of Patterson, New Jersey
Place Published: Patterson, NJ

Date Published: Late 19th century
Description:
The sign which is 19¾x35¾" overall, has a 13x28¾" original albumen print of a locomotive engine mounted centrally, surrounded with a printed border and an identifying legend on the bottom with the company title. The legend has 10 different specifications of the engine, and the printed name of the photographer as "J. Reid, Photographist". The Rogers Locomotive Co was founded in 1832. The company remained independent until it closed in 1913. Today Rogers locomotives exist in railroad museums around the world, and the building is the current location of the Patterson New Jersey Museum.
Condition
The sign has water-stains across much of the top and bottom of the photo and into the top outside margin. There is one clean closed break in the photograph below the engine, and there is an approximately 2x2” paper loss in the top of the photograph. The image of the locomotive is sharp and clear. An important large photograph, well worthy of restoration.
