Description
SOUTH JERSEY FREE-BLOWN MARBRIE-DECORATED NEAR PAIR OF VASES WITH MATCHING WITCH BALL COVERS, smoky brown with four groups of opal loopings, each vase of slight baluster-form with plain rim and rough pontil mark, each ball with rough pontil mark having 5/8" and 1 1/4" openings. Probably Adolph Macho, Vineland, NJ. Mid 20th century. 13" and 14" HOA.
Catalogue Note: Adolph Macho was a lifetime glassworker in the South Jersey area. His career started around 1915 and continued at several glasshouses until 1953 when he went into semi-retirement. At that point he opened a small furnace in part of a chicken house and began producing small batches of paperweights and loop decorated wares. Thanks to Thomas Haunton for this information.
Undamaged except for a 3/4" crack off the pontil of one ball, probably as made.
