Description
Elegant 19th century Silber & Fleming type dolls' house with hinged brick facade (restored) opening to reveal six rooms and a central staircase hall. Five rooms have original wallpapers; the nursery was re-papered with antique wallpaper and also has a replaced fireplace. The house was purchased in England, restored in America, and has been featured in Antique Doll Collector magazine. The halls retain some original oilcloth floor papers; most rooms have been carpeted with antique velvet or vintage upholstery fabrics to nice effect. Windows feature replaced old glass and antique lace curtains. Grained doors, painted woodwork, and Dresden paper trim have been added for a more formal, finished look. Some wallpapers have been touched up to cover staining. Kitchen dresser replaced with copy made from antique wood. Framed print in parlor is original to the house. Ormolu ceiling roses are added. Two embroidered bell pulls are included, as well as an antique dishcloth in kitchen. 41" H, 37" W, 20" D.
Condition
Very good restored condition. Exterior side walls were scraped to reveal original brick-colored paint, and exterior stairs repaired.
