Description
Egypt, probably New Kingdom / Third Intermediate Period, 1550 to 712 BCE (gold is modern). This is a mottled brown steatite scarab with an inscription on the back -- this shows Bes, the dwarf god, flanked by baboons. Scarabs were a form of charm which everyone could afford and which many people wore on their person. This is a nice example ready to be worn! Size: 1" L x 1.7" W (2.5 cm x 4.3 cm)
