Description
The lot features a Navajo Native American Indian wool trade sampler rug from the town of Chinle at the mouth of Canyon de Chelly. The rug is from circa 1940-1960’s and shows an excellent and finely woven pattern. The Chinle style was developed by Mary Cabot Wheelwright and Cozy McSparron, a trader at Chinle. This piece shows a sky blue background with pink and dark brown pattern and yellow border on the ends. Measures 26.5”x16.5”
