A large Mesopotamian black steatite cylinder seal, c. 2300 - 2200 BC, depicting a hero, possibly Gilgamesh, engaged with two pairs of lions attacking rampant human-headed animals. Nicely detailed with pleasing style! L: 3 cm. Displayed within a Riker mount. Ex Rice Collection, Southern California.
