Description
New Mexico, 19th century. Rare early carving of Jesus seated upon a rock outcropping. Carved of cottonwood with very distinct features associated with the arts of an early New Mexico. Christ is featured with very long face wearing the crown of thorns, arms and legs exaggeratedly long as well. He sits in deep contemplation - along the lines of Rodin's The Thinker. A very fine and sensitive carving! Size: 14" H (35.6 cm)
