BEN-GURION DAVID: (1886-1973) First Prime Minister of Israel 1948- 54, 1955-63. A printed oblong 4to souvenir copy of The Inaugural Address of Harry S. Truman, delivered on 20th January 1949, with a US postage stamp featuring a portrait of Truman neatly affixed to the lower right corner and post marked at Independence, Missouri, 8th May 1973. Signed ('D. Ben-Gurion') by Ben-Gurion with his name alone in bold black ink to the lower right corner. VG
Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) American President 1945-53. Truman was an open supporter of Zionism and recognised the State of Israel on 14th May 1948 almost immediately after it had declared itself as a nation. The President was born in Missouri and the present address is taken from his second Inauguration, the first Presidential Inauguration to be televised.
