"Blossoms" by early California artist Thomas McGlynn (1878 - 1966), original oil painting on board . Unframed height 20 inches, unframed width 24 inches. Wood Gold Leaf frame. Signed by the artist, lower right. Thomas McGlynn was born in 1878, a native of San Francisco. In 1899 McGlynn entered the Mark Hopkins Institute, beginning a long association with that school’s director, Arthur Mathews. For 12 years, McGlynn served as the head of design for the Mathews Furniture Shop in San Francisco. McGlynn moved to Pebble Beach in 1938, and remained there until his death in 1966. McGlynn painted in a pure Impressionist style, and is best remembered for his cypress and coastal paintings done on the Monterey Peninsula.
