A VINTAGE INDONESIAN TRIBAL KUNDU CARVED WOOD DRUM, ASMAT PEOPLES, PAPUA NEW GUINEA, 1950'S, of cylindrical form with flaring ends and one end retaining its original hide covering, centering a elongated and reticulated flat handle of stylized animals and loop devices interspersed with old cane straps. Height: 43 1/2" Diameter: 7 1/2" Provenance: This Asmat drum is referred to in a handwritten note by Marjorie Selden as one of the purchases made during a trip to Indonesia and surrounding region, dated November 23, 1973.

Fair condition, age cracks, wood is dry, surface marks and scratches, old chips, buildup throughout, some of the old cracks need gluing, the handle has old repairs, some missing pieces and remnants of a black surface paint.
