A GEORGE III MAHOGANY, SATINWOOD, AND MARQUETRY CROSSBANDED DEMILUNE GAMES OR CARD TABLE, CIRCA LAST QUARTER 18TH CENTURY, in the manner of Thomas Sheraton (English 1751-1806), with double gate leg action, the figured mahogany top crossbanded in satinwood and fine ebony striped stringing, opening to reveal a later custom made tooled and gilt embossed dark olive leather lined playing surface surmounting a plain frieze with conformingly inlaid trim, raised on square tapering supports topped by marquetry inlaid budding floral stems and leaves within an oval frame. Structurally semisound and in fair condition. General wear, such as scuffs, scratches, and age cracks throughout, as well as repairs and restorations, as is expected for the age of the piece. It is probable that, although in the style of the period, the hardware has been replaced. As mentioned, the leather playing surface is of a later date and in good condition.
