TWO "ZIGANE" GLASS FIGURAL PERFUME BOTTLES AND PRESENTATION, FOR CORDAY, CIRCA 1949, each flacon and stopper molded to represent an upright violin, centered by gold serigraphy naming the scent and perfumer, the molded base marked "Corday/Bottle Made/In France," the larger, height: 4 1/3", the smaller, height: 3", accompanied by the original pink box of matching shape, the light pink silk lined interior reversing to a red base featuring gold "Box/Made In France" over a white paper registration label. NOTE: In 1938 Corday introduced "Tzigane", or "Gypsy" in French, a fragrance bottled in a modernistic cylindrical shapped flacon designed by René Lalique (French 1860-1945) and presented in a violin shaped box. Roughly ten years later, the same fragrance was reintroduced in a new violin shaped bottle, such as the present lot, produced by Brosse Glassworks, as well as Choisy le Roi in France. Around this same time, the "T" was dropped from the scent's name to provide English speakers with ease of pronunciation. Special thanks to Perfume Bottle Quarterly.

Glass flacons in good condition, with no large chips, cracks or scratches. Both with clear and complete gold serigraphy. Larger bottle emptied, the smaller flacon retaining remnants of original perfume, with red cord around the neck. Pink presentation box in good condition with minor general wear as expected, one faint brown stain on silk interior. Clearly and correctly marked.
