Description
DUTCH DELFT BOWL, footed, with polychrome decoration having a bird and floral motif around exterior, cross-hatching pattern on exterior rim, red floral and blue accent designs on interior. Marked M.P. on base. Likely Pieter Paree. Circa 1760. 4 5/8" H, 10 1/2" D.
Very good condition with characteristic shallow chips to rim and foot rim, minor glaze flaking, and some surface wear from use.
Literature: Mark as described De Jonge - Delft Ceramics, p. 155.
Provenance: From a Boston area collection.
Catalogue Note: Pieter Peree established in Delft at the "sign of the Metal Pot" in 1756- registered for MP.
